Books Thirteen and Fourteen: Chronicles 1 and 2
The two books of Chronicles are summaries of what happened before them in the Old Testament. These rough paintings are meant to accompany the summarized plot.
(2 Chronicles 3:11) “And in the most holy house he made two cher’-u-bims of image work, and overlaid them with gold. And the wings of the cher’-u-bims were twenty cubits long: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house: and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cher’-ub.”
(2 Chronicles 9:17) “Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays: And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.”
(2 Chronicles 25:18) “And Jo’-ash king of Is’-ra-el sent to Am-a-zi’-ah king of Ju’-dah, saying, The thistle that was in Leb’-a-non sent to the cedar that was in Leb’-a-non, saying, Give thy daughter to my so son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Leb’-a-non, and trode down the thistle.”
(2 Chronicles 29:20) “Then Hez-e-ki’-ah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD. And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Ju’-dah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aa’-ron to offer them on the altar of the LORD. So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.”
(2 Chronicles 33:6) “And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hin’-nom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.”
